Citrus Export Buyer Matching

JapanIQ connects Moroccan citrus exporters with Japanese distribution partners

JapanIQ was proud to support the organization of the Moroccan citrus trade mission in Tokyo, contributing to the coordination of key meetings, targeted market research, and curated business tours to help Moroccan exporters navigate the Japanese market.

Morocco has successfully shipped its first container of citrus fruits to Japan—marking a major milestone in opening one of the world’s most quality-sensitive and tightly regulated fresh produce markets. This breakthrough follows a rigorous audit process by Japanese phytosanitary authorities, who approved Moroccan farms, packing facilities, and the national ONSSA certification system for compliance with Japan’s stringent standards.

Led by Morocco Foodex, the official economic mission took place from April 14 to 19 in Tokyo and brought together more than 100 key stakeholders, including Moroccan exporters, government officials, and Japanese importers. The program featured a focused delegation of around ten Moroccan citrus exporters, a series of high-level B2B meetings, visits to major Tokyo wholesale and retail markets, and a public relations campaign to increase awareness and appetite for Moroccan citrus—especially the highly regarded Nadorcott mandarins.

The mission was met with strong enthusiasm from Japanese buyers, signaling promising opportunities for Moroccan citrus in Japan and beyond. This achievement not only strengthens Morocco’s position in Asian markets but also demonstrates the value of well-coordinated trade diplomacy and cross-market collaboration.

“We had the opportunity to work with Japan IQ during the organization of a BtoB mission in Tokyo in April 2025, and we truly appreciated their dedicated and professional support throughout the entire process.

From the beginning, their team was attentive, well-prepared, and clearly knowledgeable about the Japanese market. Thanks to their involvement, we were able to connect with relevant local stakeholders and present Moroccan citrus products in a way that resonated with the audience. The feedback we received was both insightful and encouraging.

What stood out to us was Japan IQ’s structured yet flexible approach, as well as their ability to understand our goals and adapt accordingly. Their strong local network was a real asset and helped generate meaningful interest from potential buyers.

Our experience with Japan IQ was very positive, and we would gladly recommend them to any organization looking to build a presence in Japan.”
